Comment manipuler ses cartes sans les abîmer?

How do you handle your cards without damaging them?

Common Mistakes to Absolutely Avoid

Handling a card might seem harmless... yet, this is often precisely when damage occurs. Crushed corners, micro-scratches, fingerprints: a card can lose value in just a few seconds, simply due to improper handling.

1. Always hold a card by the sides

Tips:

  • Always hold the card by the sides
  • No contact with the surface
  • Fingerprints are often invisible... until grading

2. Never stack cards directly

Tips:

  • Card-on-card friction creates micro-scratches
  • Increased risk on glossy, modern cards

3. Use sleeves immediately

  • Sleeves ready before opening
  • Sleeve any notable card immediately
  • Never put it off until later

4. Beware of work surfaces

  • Clean, smooth, clear surface
  • No liquids or food nearby
  • A single speck of dust can mark a card

A friendly (but important) reminder

Friendly reminder:
👉 Let's stop unwrapping our cards right after buying them, in the car 🚗, with dirty hands.

Frequent results:

  • Black marks
  • “Grease”
  • Embedded dirt
  • Irreversible micro-scratches

👉 Wait until you get home!

6. Limit unnecessary handling

The less you handle it, the better. A protected card should remain protected

7. Clean hands are mandatory

No cream, oil, or gel right before

Gloves are optional, hygiene is not!

From a buyer's perspective 👀

Seeing a card:

  • poorly protected (no sleeve, no top loader)
  • covered in fingerprints
  • visibly handled without care

👉 does not inspire confidence and discourages buying.

A well-presented card always sells better.

🎯 The Golden Rule

Handle every card as if it were already graded.
